It's hard to imagine now that Anderson Silva went into the match as an underdog, but at 13-2 going into the Cage Rage bout, many in the crowd had never seen him fight before. Murray on the other hand had a mystical aura around him. He followed up knocking out Jose Landi-Jons with a quick fire UFC debut submission win over Jorge Rivera.

The consensus amongst many (including myself at the time) was that, although Anderson was cute (no homo), he would eventually get clipped by Murray and that Murray's power at that time was too much for any middleweight to take. The build-up was intense and the hype around Murray was unreal.

KO some skinny Brazilian? Easy. He had spanked Tito Ortiz outside China Whites. This was going to be a great night for Murray's huge following in London.

Unfortunately Anderson had other ideas and bossed Murray throughout all 3 rounds using brilliant footwork and crisp Muay Thai. Murray's fans were incensed as the unanimous decision verdict was given. Little did they and everybody else in the venue know at the time, however, they had just witnessed a future legend.
