Mayweather and Pacquiao will never fight a mando for the rest of their careers. Expect that fight to get turned into some sort of tournament for the silver title.

Usually BN is really good about showing complete undercards, too. If they'd picked up the 11/26 card we'd have had a very good chance of seeing either Russell vs. Belmontes or Ishida vs. Cruz (or maybe even both if the timing worked out).

    1. ...I...kind of deleted all my PMs about an hour ago (they were at 100% capacity!)

    2. Canelo is my h2h #4 at 154lbs. Ahead of him are Cotto, Lara and Molina in that order (or swap Molina to #2 and Lara to #3 - they're highly interchangeable). He'd probably beat everyone else but lose to them. Trout and Dzinziruk might be 50-50 affairs, and location could be a factor.

Russell vs. Ishida was...a serious proposition requiring serious address? :yep

I suppose it is only an eight inch height differential (and twelve inches of wingspan)...

    Fine. Be that way.
I do think that Russell would have spanked Nguyen. Ishida shoulda gotten a chance to fight on tv(fighting someone other than Gary Russell Jr.,........i guess.

Cruz is the perfect type of opponent to give TV audiences a glimpse of what he can do, and find out just how flukey his mow-down of Kirkland truly was. :thumbsup

It could very well be the case that Nguyen was a worse (if higher-profile) opponent than this Jerry Belmontes kid, who's undefeated but untested and a former Olympic tryout:

As it happens...Russell is no longer facing Belmontes. Musical ****ing chairs.

NOW he's facing hardened veteran Heriberto Ruiz - who despite his record might actually be a tougher test than Belmontes or Nguyen would have been with his power, toughness and experience. :think

Hhmmmmm. Maybe they'll put Russell back on the air then?

As for Ishida, i really dont know what to make of him. I guess id have to see more than that 1 round vs JK.

The HBO Boxing website still has only the split-site doubleheader listed. :conf

We'll see if it changes during the week. It would be great to see Russell added back on. (although damn it...Ishida...back on an HBO card, with three slots and not given one - even as a substitute! **** teases! How rude!)

I had seen him last time out before Kirkland. He actually got robbed in Mexico against Rigoberto Alvarez (Canelo's older brother). It was kind of his own fault, though - despite appearing the better boxer, he let Rigo walk him down for stretches in the latter half and it probably left the lasting impression that swayed the judges.

So how much of a fluke was his destruction of Kirkland in your estimation?

I've thought since the night (and this hasn't changed too much after Kirkland-Angulo) that it was a little from column A and a little from column B.

Kirkland was poorly prepared (call it under trained, over trained, too much of the wrong kind of training and not enough of the right kind...whatever) and suffered for not having Wolfe in his corner to keep him in shape & in focus.

Ishida also presented some serious physical challenges and most importantly was not intimidated by Kirkland, and took the fight straight to him and just overwhelmed him.

He definitely caught Kirkland at the right time, having looked pedestrian in his post-prison efforts and wobbled a few times in careless moments - however, I'm not sure that Ishida as a completely overlooked and unheralded opponent (with virtually no Youtube footage available for Kirkland's team to scout, even if he'd had Wolfe) with the element of surprise may not have been able to do what he did to Kirkland on any night.

The problem is, it's the kind of trick that only works once. He executed the perfect gameplan to spring the huge upset and give Japan something to cheer about when they needed it most. Great. That much I'm sure he doesn't regret. In the process, however, he's also inadvertently ****ed himself by blackballing himself from HBO due to their apparent grudge for having messed up their immediate Kirkland plans at the time.

Rodriguez has no chance against Broner....watched his fight vs Kickett & he was very poor.

Did you have a peek at his most recent effort, in the OP?

    :-(

Broner's hands might be literally five times faster.
