I'll take Alvarez by TKO 7th round or so.

Hopefully one of these days I get to see Broner KTFO, but I don't think it happens on Saturday. This is Thanksgiving, not Christmas. Broner on points after fighting on his back foot all night.

I suppose there's always the chance one of those loping, taking-the-Greyhound-across-state-lines uppercuts could land flush and expose him as a glass jawed fraud. :conf

Also, monkeys might fly out of my butt...and kidnap Toto.

To be honest I'm surprised he's even allowed on a card they're affiliated with in any way, even if he's being kept in the dark.

Ishida is a dirty word at HBO Sports, and for what? Working hard, taking a dangerous fight on the road that he didn't need to take after having just been robbed on the road last time out, and coming in with a great strategy and doing what every underdog is supposed to try and do?

Yet clowns like Cintron keep getting chances...and paydays. :verysad

Maybe that's an indication that they're just not convinced that it was anything other than a massive fluke. Meaning, if he has another good showing, they'll consider putting him on again.........

    Just a thought.

Alvarez vs Cintron has some upset potential if Cintron can recapture the form he had against Angulo. This will be the first opponent that Alvarez has faced that, in theory, has very good punching power and size/length. The matchup also, in theory, looks good for Cintron on paper because despite what some believe Alvarez vs Gomez was not an aberration for Alvarez, he was not toying with Gomez at all in that fight. Canelo is first and foremost, a counterpuncher. He only gets aggressive when his opponent shells up. When faced with an opponent like Gomez, who will actually throw a solid number of punches leading with a good jab, Alvarez will fight as he did that night, backing up constantly and looking for one big counter shot. Alvarez has a technically decent jab, but he doesn't work behind it nearly enough, and doesn't set up his combinations well against that type of opponent. Cintron at his best isn't as skilled a boxer as Gomez nor does he have Gomez's heart or workrate, but his great physical attributes in theory should cause Alvarez a lot of the same problems and Alvarez hasn't dealt with a real puncher yet in his career, so his chin is a question mark.

Now all that said, I think Alvarez will wax Cintron easily because Cintron has looked like absolute garbage in his last two fights. He's been throwing a lot of no power arm punches, giving up his size advantage against lesser opponents, and generally looking disinterested in the ring of late. He looks like a fighter that simply is fighting for the paycheck and doesn't really want to be in the ring anymore. And his history indicates that he'll fold one way or another when the going gets tough. I think this is case of well-timed matchmaking from the Canelo team, and he'll have little trouble with Cintron, taking him out sometime in the middle rounds.

That makes it even worse than if they're just "punishing" him. It isn't their place to make that kind of value judgment.

You come in and beat a touted prospect and claim his zero via TKO1, for the whole world to see - the reward should be an immediate TV date. No ifs, ands or buts. If it was a fluke, too bad. He's earned the right to prove one way or the other whether it was.

They did the same thing to Dmitry Pirog when he spoiled the Danny Jacobs party.

I believe Pirog's name wasn't even mentioned among the top middleweights when Kellerman did his "best in the division" spiel during one of their subsequent broadcasts not long after Pirog-Jacobs. :verysad

Thankful for a post-Thanksgiving fight card. Cintron has a puncher's chance I guess, but aside from that Canelo should have little problem. Not a big Broner fan but was impressed in his KO of Litzau.

    Fair enough.

It wasn't like robbery of the year or anything; I just had it 96-94 for Antwone and thought it was pretty clear. He did kind of lazily slog through it, though - and kind of brought the screw job on himself by failing to really "carpe diem" against the bigger name to overcome preconceived bias & erase any shadow of doubt in the judges' minds. And yes, the incessant barking.
