Seeing Hatton knocked absolutely out cold like that was a sight to behold(in a trainwreck sort of way), but lets face it, that KO is going to be on highlight reels for years to come, and his victories will fade into obscurity. Hatton is dead, Pac-man has killed his career, and it was tough to watch a gentleman of the sport go down that way (again) we NEED, and I mean ****ing NEED Mayweather vs Pacquiao, if this fight doesnt happen then I will take a gun and drag as many of those ****ers as I can down with me for denying us the fight of the century.
Hatton isn't dead, his accomplishments won't be forgotten, his career is dead right now as he needs to retire but will be remembered as a top fighter because that's what he is. There is no shame in losing to Pacquiao really who is possibly the greatest of this generation. Pacquiao vs Mayweather is coming. Mayweather is fighting Marquez clearly as a sign that he wants Pacquiao after it. I would like to see Pacquiao take an easy fight next before the Mayweather fight.
have to agree. i was shocked in the first round (cuz it was clear that it was over in the first), but there is no shame in losing to pac. pac and pbf is gonna be sick
i really didn't expect it to end that way. i'd favor retirement if i'm ricky. having to lose only to the top p4p fighters is something not to be ashamed of...
Agree with this 100%, other fighters have been knocked out early late on in their careers, doesn't do a whole bunch to their legacy, especially when you see Don Curry, Michael Nunn and Terry Norris were all knocked spark out by top fighters and are still revered in boxing, they were the first guys that came to mind.
his career is dead, thats my point, and this IS a major tarnish, losing to pac is not a disgrace in any means, but getting absolutely dominated by the smaller man for two rounds since the opening bell with leave a mark.it has proved what everybody has been thinking, Hatton will be remembered for being a good but very limited fighter who lost when he stepped it up.
Well, RJJ got knocked out equally as badly, if not even WORSE, by Glen Johnson, and he still get's respect today (rightfully so) for being one of the best boxers of the 90's. Having said that, Hatton will go down as a good fighter, not a great one.
Hatton is "in his prime" according to most people though(Not me though as I said pre-fight), Jones certainly wasnt
Hatton is a very hard working blue collar fighter, but while he has great conditioning and heart we always knew he didn't have more than average skill. Still he was able to bully most fighters - but not fighters who have some footwork.
I certainly hope you are joking. I don't think Ricky would even have heard the count until it got to 120 or so... :-(
