Briscoe would have the edge, but Barkley had underrated power. Barkley had great power and decent defense on the inside, but when he tried to fight on the outside he was hit easily.

    This.

Briscoe was in another league. A far better fighter. Watch the films.

I saw Olajide go to war with Barkley and almost stop him. Are we joking here?

I have little doubt that Bad Bennie is the guy backing up the opponent here. I just can't pictue Iran backing this guy up. But backing up Barkley was when he slugged and tried standing his ground. I think that plays right into those looping Briscoe left and right hooks of his. They'll bust up Barkley early and it will be rough on the inside with cuts or swelling against this guy. I just think Barkley needs a much better defense against a guy like this that would back him up.

Briscoe wins late, but Barkely would give him hell most of it.

the best version of Barkley that I saw was in a losing effort against Duran. Technically his punches were short, he was throwing combinations boxed and slugged with good balance. That was just a great fight even though he lost close.

That version of Iran gives Bennie hell though the most likely scenario is Briscoe by Decision IMO.

Barkley's comments decades later..."I used to think I knew what bad was until I met that Bad motorscooter Bennie".

Mine, too. Just watched Briscoe on youtube and he was a real badass. I love his rolling style and scything punches! I reckon he kayos Barkley. If Benn can, Benny can!

Bennie was a lot more controlled than Barkley who was a tough SOB ....I think Bennie could take a close decision but tough match up

This for me...Barkley was a huge middleweight, but Briscoe was very good in his style, very proficient. He would stop Barkley late. I'm in the minority here, but I would pick Briscoe to beat Tony Zale. Reasons being...Briscoe's forward lean posture is hard to get body shots in on, and Briscoe had a very good jab.
Briscoe against Marcel Cerdan would have been a great fight...but Cerdan has the movement to offset Bennie, but then again, Briscoe's jab would also give him problems. Sorry...just going on here...
