Well, Dawson has one loss to a guy that used tactics that I'm sure we won't see from Pavlik. Dawson did not seem to like the pressure and pace though. Hopefully at 175 Kelly will have his stamina back. It was always one of his stronger categories.
It's true that Pavlik has never weighed in above 169, but he used to walk around at 172-173, and was not in very good physical condition between fights. Now days Pavlik walks around at 192-193,and looks like a tight end in the NFL. At the moment he's around 185, and looks a bit like Godzilla.
True, and I don't doubt that Pavlik eventually can or will fight at 175, but that'd be a weight higher than he's ever been whereas it's Dawson's natural/comfortable weight.
I'm not going to even try to make a prediction or talk seriously about this fight at this time. However, I have been seriously underwhelmed by Dawson in recent fights.
Dawson stops him hard and early. Pavlik doesn't see the bell for round 3. He is levels above Hopkins and he kicked his ass over 12.
