Hey guys sitting here VERY thustrated after last nights sparring, I guess we all have good and bad days but yesterday i dont know what the hell was up with me.. this last couple of years ive been working so hard to achieve my goals and ive came off a couple of my best performances in the ring at the ABAs so youd think id be at my best but lastnight at sparring i was effing awful never so bad in my life.. i was taking too many shots from novice boxers and guys that i can easily deal with normally were catching me all over the place.. and not just that i felt every punch too, i didnt show it but a few of the shots i caught buzzed me.
now i havent sparred for 3 weeks, i have still been in the gym non stop but i had a lump on my head from my last fight which i didnt want to become a cut... so do you guys think that could be why i was rusty 3 weeks off sparring probably the longest i havent sparred?? also i am training for a half marathon tomorow which i have been drinkining lots of water this week but i thought that is meant to help with punch resistance?? i by no means get wobbled easy but just seemed to feel the punches yday more then usual, hopefully just a bad day any advice i will appreciate loads cus i work so hard i get really pissed off when a bad day like that comes along :patsch

Your jaw is just glass possibly, nothing you can do about it.

Work your way around having a glass jaw.

Sounds like a bad case of glass jaw going on.

    You best stick to marathons.

Glass jaws DO exist in boxing. It's irrefutable.

did you lose a lot of weight really fast? that can drain fluid to the brain which is kind of your brains protective layer. Other than that you were off for 3 weeks and bad sparring sessions happen even with Mayweather and the most elite fighters throughout history. Just get back to basic technique, and seeing the punches coming, work on timing and balance etc dont get frustrated and keep your head clear.

thanks for a decent reply mate yea i had to cut a fair bit of weight for the ABAs i had to get down to 64kg from 68ish not too bad but 3 weeks on i had put weight back on so not sure that would have been the issue but thanks i see what you mean my head wasnt clear because i was getting more and more thustrated hopefully just a bad day because of not sparring for 3 weeks

Keep training for Boxing, not half marathons. Sounds like you have overdone work, over trained.

and if you have bad they in office and you are tired, dont spar that evening. You will get hurt being too proud and accepting every sparring.

It's 'frustrated'. You probably got concussed in one of your bouts and didn't realise it. Slower reaction speed and feeling off is a common lingering effect of a concussion.

This became obvious when the doctor said "how many fingers am i holding up?" and his reply was "potato".
