We could be looking at a situation that's very similar to Abril-Rios. Ortiz is also facing a tough, tricky veteran who is looking to make the most of the opportunity, and who possesses a style that would bother all but the very best. Ortiz can whack, but Lopez has displayed a good chin thus far in his career, and an ability to grind an opponent down and make things interesting in the later portion of the fight. If he weathers the storm..and I think he may well do just that...then we're looking at a very interesting fight. :deal
Always a bad feeling around when a fight can be tough when Ortiz is involved. I sort of waited for something crazy to happen when he seemed to just falter mentally. When someone asked about betting on him for this fight I said it was never safe to bet on Ortiz.
I guess he took the Push Ortiz back suggestion I talked about, and box smart and make him PAY suggestion... and pressure, and work the body how I mention in another thread... things I thought Jose could actually do to get a win.. and he did.
Got to credit Lopez for this, fought out of his skin, can't blame Ortiz retiring due to broken jaw..but he was actually ahead on all cards up until that point
I said this same **** last week on another thread and I can't remember what thread it was... something like "With the year Boxing has had... put your money on Lopez!"
