If his actions were wrong he'd get DQ'd or banned for doing what he did. He actually got sub of the night so you really are talking out of your arse. Big Nog isn't complaining, no one is, except you.

Seems people are always keen to miscredit mir when he wins and are right on the glass jaw no heart train when he loses...these fighters are amongst the most dangeroUS men in the world one on one, mir is a dangerous ****er... Bottom line is Nog ****ed up and threw this fight away. Mir saw his chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and Nog didn't want to tap and admit defeat.

 

Strange irony that in the countdown show, nog said he would break mir arm.... Instant karmas gonna get ya...

 

Yep, true... I wish it wasn`t as Nogueira is easily amongst my top 5 all time fav fighters but this is the game, it happens, he knows the score himself as well as anyone.

For the record - I still regard Nog as the best BJJ fighter in heavyweight history, a tapout loss at this stage in his career cannot undo some of the amazing things he has done throughout his career.

 

That is exactly my point, his only sub since 2006 was over a weak grappler,


I have not watched Big Nog's entire career, but he looked a lot better on the ground Pride than in recent fights. He has a record of subbing some of the better fighters of his era, which Mir does not.

I am not saying that Mir is a poor grappler, one of the best in the UFC actually, but to suggest that that fight would look the same in the early 2000s is very ignorant. Like that bet-dodger says, its just common sense.

Look if Mir and Noguiera had a grappling match in 2000 i would not be making Noguira the overwhelming favourite would you ??? , where did i say this fight would have the same outcome in 2000 Beekeeper ??? , ill say it again , Jui Jitsu is a craft , its a skill , your abilities do not dwindle with age , if anything in theory you should get better and better , would Royce Gracie have tapped Matt Hughes if he was in his 20's ???

Frank Mir outwitted Nogueira by using technique and craft , he bested him in the JJ department of a sport we call MMA , its that simple

Edit : let me just add something for FYI purposes to the clueless PRIDE moron's , i actually rate Nogueira (todays) more highly than Mir , and i had him picked for a TKO win which is what should of happened , im just stating mere facts about the fight , i dont watch MMA through goggles of what i want to beleive is right and wrong i say what i see , anything else is in the Popkins ranks of stupidity

 

Have to say though Mir's positioning for it was incredible. I didn't think he would be able to hold the kimura as Nog was sneaking out then the jump over came great by Mir has to be said wasn't expecting him to do it so quickly or fluidly to get the right position for the submission.

 

I have watched enough MMA to know that fighters abilities on the ground deteriorate with age. Its not about wearing Pride goggles, its about actually seeing fighters in their prime before you discuss prime vs prime matchups.

You do not even back your claims up, when did Royce tap Matt Hughes? Why wasn't HELIO Gracie the UFC 1 champion then if he had so much time to improve?

Nobody is arguing Mir bested Nogeira on the ground, its your implication that the OP was wrong in suggesting that Nog was not his best that is completely ******ed.

 

Gutted. But the fact is beating a shot (started to go downhill when he fought Barnett) Nogueira isnt going to mean anything.

Stopped by a Lesnar, Simms and Vera (smaller man) vs the greatest resume in MMA history.

Nogueira will be remembered. Mir will not.
