I was just wondering if this happens alot, my first amateur fight i was matched against a guy who had a 4W - 0L record including two stoppages and a KO, I won only cause one of his wild hooks caused him to break his hand on my head.....
Anyway since then ive been really pissed off with my coaches cause they told me the guy only had two fights, however i found out later they knew his real record....Does this happen often?

Yeah, I think they're just trying to keep you from possibly being intimidaeted before hand. (if you see an impressive record + have little experince it could be intimidating!)

My coach would never do that. Your coach is there to protect you. There's a fine line between a coach trying to get his kid experience and just throwing him to the wolves. I've known some coaches to do that to weed kids out and see who will stay and who will quit.
Maybe he thought the guy was wild and you could handle him. I don't know. Maybe just tell him that you appreciate him trying to get you good matches but that you want to compete a lot so you'd rather not risk getting hurt and being out for a few months. If you are young and plan on sticking with it, there's no reason to not come up slowly. Of course, that's only until you hae 10 bouts, then all bets are off.

my 2nd fight some1 had 9 fights i dont know what his record was though. he beat me pretty decisivley. But my coaches knew that I had 2 fight him for the tournament i signed up for so they just told me he had 3 fights haha. They just didn't want you to be inimatated.

It happens, coaches often forget what it was like for them mentally and remember how they were treated. i.e. 'My coach used to put me against anyone' or 'When I was younger I fought such and such who was a champion when I was a novice' and they forget how much they were scared or hurt.

@ Alpin, yea thats so true in my old boxing gym my coaches were constantly going on about how much more harcore than us they were and how our training was ***** training compared to theirs and blablabla...ultimatly that kind of **** pissed me off so much i left....im doing Muay thai right now and **** me its like ten time more brutal than Boxing, i cant feel my legs they are permantly bruised...but its good fun i love it that you can clinch and use knees and elbows its pretty destructive!

    Yeah, ecstatic... :(

TMT SUX, Sinbi ROX, that is all you need to know ;) If you want to be by the beach then Puket is certainly the place to go. Well either there or Koh Samui, where I would say SuperPro Samui or Thai Pinyo (NOT WMC!!!).

My favourite place out of about 25 camps I visited was True Bee in Pai, however there is NOTHING to do there, so second favourite was Chay Yai in Chiang mai :) Pai and Chay Yai are actually ran by brothers, so the training is very simular... I just prefered trainers at Pai :)
