I don't think twisting your hips a la Tyson is good for every fighter.
It's a good hook to throw off a jab or a straight, but that's not Galentos style. By not twisting your hips, you can follow the hook with an overhand right MUCH quicker, as you don't have to turn your hips back to get your right in range. And that's a combo that fits Galento much more.

Watch Salvador Sanchez, a great puncher, stand straight up with his heavy blows. He's able to alternate his left and right quickly and with power because he doesn't turn his hips. He just relies on his core momentum and the shoulder snap. These are most definitely not arm punches.

Now there are some stark differences between Sanchez and Galento, such as Tony putting way more force (and risk) into his overhand, but look at the absence of hip rotation on the hook.

Maybe you have a certain stylistic preference, but I think if you were more flexible on what may constitute a successful style in boxing, it would help to explain many gaps in your argument. Such as that Galento was technically worse than amateurs, but far and away more successful then most.

Before I get to the Sanchez clip that you consider "stylistically similar" to Galento's punch (and for the record, it's really not), can you explain how this is responsive to my breakdown of the Galento and Tyson clips? You replied to my post but as far as I can tell didn't address a single thing I wrote in it. Am I missing something? :huh

PS - What round was the Sanchez/Gomez clip from? Ditto re: the slo-mo Tyson snippet.

Sanchez drops Gomez, has him badly hurt & all but completely helpless, throws a barrage of dozens of often sloppy punches at him to try to finish him before he can get his senses, all while chasing him all around the ring, and you feel that it's fair to freeze-frame one of those punches to compare to the wide, off-balance Galento lunge? Won't accuse you of being disingenuous but...interesting editorial choice there.
