Dude he has accomplished what THOUSANDS of people have accomplished who didn't have crap to do at home and got suckered into signing up. Any shmuck that has passed high school calculus and is in decent physical shape can do what either of us did. I hate it when people act like joining "The Machine" makes them "special".

It doesn't take a "special" man to jump into a multi-billion dollar weapon system to "fight" supposed "threats" all over the world from poor and/or weaker countries. Had the fool spent his time in the Peace Corps, mentored wayward youth, or volunteered at his local 4h club I would have respected him more. On a sub?

Yeah man the rowing on that really thin long boat that they are in the air a bit looks amazing. Almost spiritual.

 

Yes I am an average joe. I have done many things and the only difference between us is time, luck, and personal preference. I am sure you will do a great many things in due time.

In the mean time, quit talking about how much you did in 5 years. Hundreds of people do what you did. Hundreds more will do it.

Like I said before I respect what you have done. To be clear I have been in your exact same shoes. Just so you know I'm not a fraud your term "Capped" means someone who was advanced to the next higher paygrade without having to take the examination test by your command for outstanding service. You should be proud of that! I served on two different submarines in my time and got out as a chief select in 8 years and I'm proud of that!

Just remember that keeping your head down and being humble is always better than showing your ass and being embarrassed because you never know who has done what!

This type of behavior is par for the course for you though. You spin off on tangents completely unaware of how you got there. Then your entire argument is based upon some BS "attack on your person" that you imagined and/or instigated along the way. It is kind of sad.

 

You're right about joining "The Machine" not making them special. What is "special" is the sacrifices you make not seeing your family and friends to do the job that's required. Not many people on this earth would be willing to do that. That's the reason it was time for me to go besides I was offered my dream job.

Exactly man! Lots of guys have served. I respect them all. I served too. Many more capable guys will come after us. No need to toot our horns about how wonderful we are.

There is honor in service, but hey it is just one life choice among many. Hell, IMHO, I think there is more honor in being a loving father, husband, and stand up guy.
