I hate Max...he tries to sound too smart with his metaphors...he knows his ****, but I'd take geriatric Larry any day.

Merchant, Lampley (his cheerleading is a bit much, though) and big George.

That is the best combination. If Big George cxn't be there, just the other two......

    But no Lewis, please.

    Are you on drugs?

Kellerman sucks! He ain't worthy of carrying the Great Larry Merchant's jockstrap.

Kellerman's upside is that he knows young fighters. He and HBO have done a good job this year of talking about the young contenders in various weight classes. Larry, a lot of time, is repeating the same lines we've been hearing for 20 years.

The old guy is good. He uses great metaphors that are--unfortunately-- above the average boxing fan's head.
    They don't get it.

I like 'em both for different reasons.

I like Kellerman's enthusiasm and passion, and Merchant's ascerbic wisdom and poetic flights of fancy. They're both entertaining, just in different ways.

I agree that Max knows his boxing but too often he tries to compare the fights to other fights from the past that I have never heard of, some are even so old that he wasn't even born yet. I am sorry Max but boxing is not everyones profession and the common person hasn't watch every fight that been broadcasted since the 50's.

Because he quit on his stool against Byrd.

    Thus, he is a quitter.

    Can you comprehend that?
