In all fairness, Senchenko didn't even turn up for the pre fight press conference so the theme of disrespect ran all weekend.

In all honesty, Hatton probably should of congratulated him in his post fight press conference, but he didn't. so what? is that big of a deal really? of course not.

But people like betty swollocks, Hatton's number 1 fan are you gonna use it and run wild with it "oh he's so disrespectful" "he's self centred" etc

The guy had just fought a tough 9 round fight, been knocked out in friends of his family and his adoring fans and then had to come to terms with the fact that his career was over all in one night.

I think we can cut him a LITTLE bit of slack don't you?

Yeah, you probably picked the wrong example but you're 100% right about Hatton not being responsible for his fans being disrespectful. :good

Think he can live with those cos he knows you cant turn the clock back...it happened. Its the 'what if he never gave it another go'
The man can only be applauded, in my eyes, for dragging himself from where he was to answer those demons. Thought the presser was class, and a relief to hear he's unlikely to become another Bruno or Gazza story

You can't blame Hatton for talking about himself post-fight. He's the guy people are interested in; the journos are asking him to talk about himself...

I have a very bad feeling that he will become exactly that.

The only difference right now is that Hatton is far, far worse off in terms of mental health than Bruno and Gazza were at the time of their retirements.

    You think so??
I reckon he'll be fine? Contented now. In no way delusional

I hope he doesn't, I would genuinely be upset for him if he turned into another Gazza that would be horrible.

He certainly has problems though, and he's been lying to the public about his drug problems I know that for a fact.

A group of my mates were in a nightclub in Manchester early this year and Ricky was pestering them for E's as well as others.

and this isn't a "friend of a friend" story, these are my good mates who told me this directly.

And then, a week or so after, I read a interview with Hatton where he is saying he has "conquered his demons"

I don't blame him for it, drugs do horrible things to your mind and change you as a person.

I just hope he gets the help he needs rather than going down the wrong path, would genuinely be horrible to see him broke and a total drug/drink mess in 10 years or so.

I'd probably take him to rehab myself.

Bad night for Hatton ? If you call getting your life back on track a bad night then maybe. As for a bad night for his fans ? I was there and witnessed probably the best bill off the year. Bad night ..... F*ck off !

Maybe a bit harsh, but, yeah, someone needs to be advising Hatton not to indulge in this stuff.
With all due respect to the reality of his manic depression, the fact that a boxing comeback can be marketed and reasoned by referencing the ****ed-up mental state of the fighter and his 'inner demons' is a little distasteful and worrying. It's an indictment of the sport and the celebrity 'car crash' media culture of the times.
and then he loses, and it carries on.

Don't get me wrong, I was persuaded by Hatton that this was something 'he needed to do'.

    But it's really not healthy.

The man was a good fighter, made a lot of money, lost a few fights. If he has personal issues with that, it's probably not a good thing that the whole boxing community is being asked to (literally) buy into them.

    True.
Hatton fans booing the national anthem is Vegas was a disgrace. It's the kind of thing that puts me off travelling with English supporters to any sporting event abroad.

After about half an hour of cajoling, baiting, pushing and rowing? Probably, yeah.
