Massive amounts of ignorance around issues like this on here. I've lived with a guy for 3 years who suffered from depression and posts by idiots like Betty are way off the mark.

Depression is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. Telling someone to 'snap out of it' is like telling a drunk person to instantly sober up.

 

I can see both sides of the argument here.

I like Ricky and wanted him to win but fair credit to Senchenko - he came into the Lions den and caused the upset.

The fans shouldn't have booed him after, that wasn't good. However most of them were likly causal fans at best who went along for the **** up.

Disappointed but not surprised Crimetime couldn't even talk to Senchecko after the fight. He was the winner after all.

 

I could'nt be arsed watching that afterfight wail-in, but HATTON the MOVIE:| road to redemption shyte:-( I'd have had more respect for this shower of **** if they'd came out & said all proceeds are going to a local "Childrens Hospice".:deal

Hatton thought he was the reincarnation of Roberto Duran by adopting all Duranesque out of the ring habits but the folly with that is that Duran had the skill to compensate for age & weight.:deal

 

Are you a psychiatrist? are you a mental health nurse? do you have any experience dealing with and or treating people with severe depression?

If Minter had kept his racist mouth shut pre fight then he probably wouldn't have been totally brutalised and his fans might not have kicked off. Minter did get a level of criticism

 

Betty has two main, obvious problems as a poster.

1. He's a James Phoney fan.
2. His view of Hatton is clouded by his intense jealously of Hatton's good looks.

Like most of us, you know **** all about his mental condition. That opinion, like all of your others, is based on nothing but your weird obsession with the guy. It doesn't matter what the guy does, you'll always take the worst, most cynical view of his behaviour because you've some strange Hatton-related issues.

The guy has a big ego and that causes a lot of his annoying behaviour - but people with big egos still get depressed. Especially ones who have gone from having their ego stroked by a fanbase who viewed him as a bit of a hero, to a guy who got laid out with a highlight reel ko and turned into a fat drunken mess who was laughed at in the tabloids.

Basically what you are saying is that you don't believe that Hatton has any mental issues and this opinion is based on absolutely nothing at all apart from your dislike of the man and/or his fans.

Richard and his fans constantly disgrace themselves so it was hardly surprising.

 

I don't think a boxing comeback under the spotlight of massive media attention and the expectations of thousands of fans is the proper cure for it either !

If Ricky Hatton is suffering an actual medical depression I don't see how it's morally acceptable to allow him to market this fight as 'wrestling my inner demons'.
The people around him should be ashamed.

We've all bought into the story a bit, and it's wrong but we're all suckers for a bit of 'human interest'.

I actually hope BettySwollocks is right, and Hatton has been over-egging the 'redemption from depression' angle to serve himself.

The alternative - that's he's 100% genuine - makes the whole thing a disgrace, imo.
