If you drop as you punch you're losing power. If you're always balanced on your toes you're losing power, and your balance is worse. Unless the laws of physics don't apply to you. I'm glad you feel he's helped you, but if those things are fundamental to your boxing game he has limited your potential. I'm not impressed that you're a national champion either buddy, unless you're from Russia or Cuba.

Your body doesn't rock when you're punching, if anything is rocking then you're losing balance. Planting the front leg is exactly what I was talking about before. You don't have to think about rotating your hips at that point, that is simply a consequence of what's happening from the front foot planting and stopping the forward momentum from the back foot.
Sugar Ray is fluid because he has great scapular mechanics and obviously because he is experienced at his movements.

You've been here well longer than that saying the same nonsense. So you're saying your point of being here is to laugh at others? And people think that I'm the *******.

You're are smart guy, why did my coach start me off as a junior teaching me to throw punches with both feet pointing forward and heels flat on the ground. throwing the right hand without letting my heel leave the ground. S**** wants me to elevate the right heel as I throw the right hand which I do. But why did my old coach want the rear heel flat on the ground?

I have no idea why your old coach wanted the rear heel to stay on the ground. Most boxing coaches are clueless, but that's really next level. Unless he was taking a top down approach and ensuring thoracic rotation (separation between hips and shoulders) was sufficient at end range before including the legs, but I doubt any boxing coach would have the time or inclination to do that.
Watch what all the top amateurs do with their front foot when they throw, don't listen to morons like S****.

Yes, and? There's a reason why it's seen as a sport more about flash than substance, and has no practical use in an actual fight.

I've explained and posted an article that explains how to throw with power in this thread.
Whenever any fighter in the pro or amateur game can punch (whip/throw) with power look at how they firmly plant their whole front foot into the ground to halt momentum and provide the stretch through their midsection to allow the 'whip' when they throw the rear hand.
S**** for some reason advocates punching with the front heel elevated.. something to do with aligning the thumb, coccyx, the tongue, the ear/**** cavity with the C5 vertebra and allowing the chakras of your CNS to instigate the earth moving you. The guy is an absolute moron, I wish he was just joking but I think he sincerely believes what he says.

Delt-with s**** has a video out in YouTube where he's got a kid punching with his lead heel upwards looks more like ballet, then throwing the right cross. furthermore he claims to have trained 7-10 world champions. On saddoboxing.com the head mod Andre bans anyone who dare to question s**** if you wanted to create a wave go there :yep

Its a good idea, to keep the front heel of the floor, it restricts movement. Which is important because of the lateral working of the leg joints, 6,3,6,hip knee and ankle, plus the leaning of head.. Also the damage it does to the knee, because of bad mechanics, bent knees are good flat feet are not. It takes longer for the body to engage for movement. Knees bent lowers your centre of gravity. With the understanding that its the floor that moves you, and thats what you are balancing with. makes sense to me.:D.
