Froch winning a round and a half hardly means he was going to win the rest of the fight. Nobody knows what would have happened had the ref not jumped in prematurely. If we did, we wouldn't bother watching. Froch fans are clutching at straws saying Froch would have won from there. Did they also predict he would be 5 rounds down at that point? I don't think so.

If anyone was getting sparked in the last 3 rounds it was Froch.

Groves was finished. His power had drained and his shots no longer hurt Froch. It was only a matter of time before Groves would have been stopped..Shame the ref jumped in and stopped Froch getting s deserved Ko finish.

Froch had taken the absolute best Groves had to give and was starting to connect in dishing out his own.

Watch this replay he was about to collapse to the canvas. The ref moves in, as Froch clocks him with that massive right after connecting with a right before that. That was two big right hands. now look at Groves arms drop and the ref pretty much catches him and keeps him up. Then look at Groves, he's pretty much out for a little bit, limp. The ref must have felt that, and waved it. It does look a bit weird, but look at this angle and you can see Groves took a massive right and was going.

The ref didn't pull him and grab him first though did he. Look at Groves after Froch lands that right. he goes limp! What is he doing falling and facing the ref anyways? If he was intelligently defending himself, he'd have his arms up and facing Froch.

Instead his arms dropped and he was gone for a moment. Silly for the ref to keep him from dropping, but Groves was done. His stamina at that point was drained, and his ability to defend shots, hence Froch landing two free shots on him, the first stunned him, and the other really hurt him which caused his hands to drop and for a moment no longer defending himself.

Just look at the way his arms drop! no control over them whatsoever. Now ref probably should have moved away. But Froch was gonna finish him, no doubt.

By your reasoning then, look at Groves straight after the stoppage. He didn't even look buzzed. Didn't look like a fighter who was in trouble did he?

groves did fall back into the ropes after the ref stops it so he was hurt and should have been given a 8 count but there's no need to stop the fight

I've watched it back so many times, he's still throwing, he's still getting his arms up in defence. Even IF Froch was en route to stopping he was still well off doing it probably not inside the round... Feel cheated that this fight didnt have a true conclusion

I personally feel Groves was weathering the storm, the chinny rep is ridiculous, this is a kid who has sparred with Haye, he knows how to take heavy shots. Booth was talking up Groves powers of recovery as an underated trait, the referee INCORRECTLY beleived he had none.

The fall you are referring to is Groves feet making adjustment because he's attempting to kick away Froch's front foot. Sneaky illegal move but I see him go for it a few times in the fight... Same way Carl was punching after breaks and using the forearm

End of the day, Froch walks or he takes the rematch I dont think the vast majority of British fans, casual or not, will want to see anything else from him...

Next May in Wembley, could easily be filled, Eddie make it happen.

There HAS TO BE A REMATCH. Or Froch calls it a day. I think this result is going to eat at him.

Being on George Groves' highlight reel probably won't sit well with Froch.
    Knockdown of the year, IMO
