i don't know about everybody else but i think it was really bad timing.I mean come on he let him go 11 rounds taking some really hard shots,he should've just let him finish it out.If he was going to stop it because paulie wasn't doing much and was taking a beating, he should've stopped it way earlier because even though i wanted paulie to win, it was pretty obvious after the fifth round how the fight was going to go.

It was just bad, period. Paulie should have been allowed to finish the fight like a MAN. Boxing people have become way too wimpy over the last 20-30 years or so. Trainers and refs used to let fights go to their natural conclusion, as they should still.

You know if Paulie didn't want it stopped he should have tried something other than hanging on for dear life and eating leather. The moment he went into and sustained a 99% survival mode was the moment he lost the right to complain about an early stoppage.

Tough call... Buddy was probably right. Why let your fighter take more punishment when he's got zero chance of winning the fight?

But personally, I think he should have been given the chance to finnish the fight. I mean, this could be the end of the line for Paulie... let him go out like a man... at least he could have had bragging rights about never being stopped in his career etc. He could have taken it for a couple more rounds!

He did finish the fight like a man.....:rofl...what now he is a woman or something????

Boxing has changed by making it far safer.....the natural conclusion for some fighters is tragic.....

    good stoppage

Paulie should have been allowed to continue because there was only one round left but at the end of the day Mcgrit did the right thing. Paulie will thank Mcgrit one day for watching out for him. Paulie was getting pounded really hard in that round. Will it makes us happier if Paulie was in the hospital right now in a COMA.

It was stupid, if you are going to protect your fighter, you were far too late; he was in no worse shape than he was 5 rounds before.

Glad on one hand, Ricky gets credit for the TKO, pissed because I bet decision, which it should have been.

So why even let him out of the 3rd then? **** really, why even sign the fight, it was pretty clear Paulie was in for an ass beating.

Should have let him go a round and a half more, salvage something from it.

Glad Ricky got the stop though, even though it lost me a bet.

Exactly. He should have been allowed to finish the fight. Today's boxing people - trainers, refs, and fans, sadly - are a bunch of whiners. Years ago, the fans would be bitching to high heaven about a bogus stoppage like this. Unless a guy is out cold or defenseless, the fight should continue.

There's been allegations presented by people that McGirt purposely had the fight stopped maybe in a corruption scandal. There were +350 odds for a stoppage before 11.5 in the fight and Mcgirt threw in the towell 49 seconds into the 11th round. That could make for some BIG money. Paulie was much more hurt against Cotto and finished on his feet. McGirt just seemed really anxious to stop the fight. Something could be fishy there.

McGirst has allows pulled his fighters out when the start taking a real beating...that what he has always done...What's fishy about a guy doing what he has done for years?
