Had the fight gone the distance and Malignaggi been taken to hospital and diagnosed with brain damage people would be complaining that McGirt didnt stop it even though his fighter was taking a beating and stood no chance of winning.

If you were in McGirts place im sure thats a chance you wouldnt want to take.

If Paulie didn't like the stoppage he should have started throwing punches when he was told to rather that just hanging on for dear life!

i hated the stoppage. felt bad for paulie. every fighter wants to finish the fight. he was losing sure but wasn't getting beaten to death or anything. i was shocked a little when it happened.

I think the stoppage was 100% correct and I've not heard one single argument from anyone that has made me think othewise.

McGirt told Malignaggi before he come out for the 11th that Paulie needed to start fighting or the towell was being thrown. Paulie didn't come out fighting, and Hatton was getting in with some big shots, Paulie couldn't win the fight so the fight ended, good decision. No one thinks any less of Paulie for having a stoppage on his record, and surely that is better than risking the guys health in an unnecesary way.

I think Paulie should have been allowed to continue and finish the fight. He wasn't taking that type of beating. I watched the fight and I even watched it @ high speed and I swear that there was so much holding that at a fast speed the 2 looked like they were dancing.

Paulie was much more hurt and looked worse in the Cotto fight but they didn't stop it.

Good stopppage. He told him before the round to punch back or he''ll stop it and then Paulie went in there and was getting hammered

He wasn't taking a particularly bad beating, but please......

Don't use any of the 'he hadn't even been knocked down' bull**** - but for his instant grabbing he would have hit the deck about three times.

And just like I said, that was 100% clear 3-4 rounds in, why wait until theres 4.5 minutes left? If you want to protect his saftey stop it early, better yet don't take the fight, its a mismatch, but don't stop it when there is a round and a half left, stop it when theres 8 left.

Paulie could, NEVER, win that fight, from the end of the second on that was plainly clear to everybody.

could of stopped it earlier imo

he wasn't using his right hand, he was lying in on the inside, he was holding to death, and overall he just didn't fight a smart fight at all.....

sure he has a great chin and wasnt in danger of being KO'd but....he had no shot of winning, and he wasn't even really fighting

Mcgirt told him that he needed to look more lively, or that he'd stop the fight. I don't have a problem with what happened.

His fighter was hurt pretty badly, Paulie's pride was the only thing that made him stand there in the ring against Hatton for the last couple of rounds.

    Good Stoppage
