Two sucker punches in press conferences, getting somebody in a lock and slamming them into a ringpost, punching somebody when they're down and punching somebody when the ref has told you to stop and they're not looking.... ....badass?? They're all the acts of a coward.
Marco is a coward. - Mckinney got in Barrera's face. Boom! - Morales was talking **** to Barrera. Boom! - Hamed started the antics first with his headlock. Boom! - He shouldn't have hit Marquez when he was down, but Barrera hit Pacquiao just as Weeks was getting involved.
If CCTV showed somebody walking around town and they sucker punched somebody, then sucker punched somebody else, hit somebody when they were down, gripped somebody from behind and slammed them into something and hit somebody when they weren't looking, we'd all want that person to be battered and imprisoned. All those incidents are cowardly, get off his nuts, it's clear to see.
Barrerra fouled Morales throughout their 3rd fight, while Morales just boxed his best. At the end of the fight Barrerra wanted to shake his hand and morales threw water at him. El terrible took some flak for that. why be nice after the fight when you're a dickhead during the fight?
Barrera certainly had an attitude problem. I know that's sacrilege around these parts but I think anyone with a keen eye can see that somebody who sucker punched people as much as Barrera did had some sort of an attitude issue. Let's not get into the insulting Tijuana peoples, insinuating that Bob Arum was trying to **** him over, insinuating that GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS was trying to **** him over and just having a generally poor attitude. Even his corner had some pricks in it, remember them throwing sponges and water at Junior Jones after he KO'd Barrera? NOW BEFORE a member of the MAB fan club decides to throw daggers at me, this takes nothing away from how great a fighter he was. It also doesn't take anything away from how gutsy he was. He was just a mother ****er. That's all.
I have always loved Barrera.... He was kind of a dirty fighter at times, and i usually don't like that, but there is something about his personality that made it OK with me.
Some call it a mean streak, others would refer to it as a tendency to be a bit of a dick. I guess it depends on what side of the fence you sit on. ON the flip side, it'd be silly of me to pretend Morales wasn't one either. That's what made their constant battles in the press/ring/grocery store so much fun.
