Im not a great history expert but were there any fighters who were competitive but NOT dominant in their weight class. Then rose to a higher weightclass and became dominant overnight. Pacman is the only example? I just think Badou Jack's odds aren't that great. But I wish him all the best of course.
Cleverly is one obvious choice since he recently moved up from SMW to LHW, but so far, has not had much success at the higher weight. However, since he is listed in the LHW top 10 on some lists, it's a chance for Jack to break the top 10 within the next year or so.
He should fight Kovalev or Beterbiev, if not, he really should rematch Degale......................at 168
How can he rematch at 168 when he has moved to 175, and how can he fight Kovalev or Beterbiev when he has no position at 175 yet? Are you like, talking in your sleep?
Badou Jack Vs Cleverly Badou Jack Vs Jean Pascal Badou Jack Vs Gvozdyk Badou Jack Vs Fonfara Badou Jack Vs Marcus Brown Are just a few start up matches I see for Jack at LHW.
175 is a shark tank. May not be the best move for him, even if he is doing it because he's having trouble making 168. His first match will probably be against someone in the lower end of the top 10 to get his feet wet and then gradually make his way to a title shot. I'd go after Stevenson since the Kov-Ward fight takes priority and will take a while to happen it seems. He is probably going to take Shabranskyy, Pascal if he is still in the top 10, or Joe Smith jr. Those are all winnable for him I think and likely to accept the fight while building his profile in the division. Shabranskyy probably needs that fight more than anyone since he needs to rebound from that loss and one more like that is definitely getting him dropped out of the top 10. In some rankings he has already been dropped.
I wish Badou Jack the best of luck. He beat both Bute and Degale in my eyes. I think he could be competitive at 175. But I think Krusher, Ward, Stevenson are too much for him. I'd love to see him fight Beterbiev by next year
So because Jack was WBC super middleweight champion will that automatically give him a high rating with the WBC at light heavyweight? I think it should.
There are a lot of killers in LHW... he needs at least two tune up fights in this division before he fights a champ
