    Thank ye kindly.

Brilliant execution by Jack there, all told. He set up both of the first two knockdowns with a nicely disguised (in a low sling) hard looping right over that lazy low left hand of Makabu, after paving the way for it with a counter jab and catching his opponent in flux.

I think he deserved the decision against Stevenson as well.

There's nothing like modern day slo-mo highlights! We get to see all that sloppy technique & off balance footwork in fine detail, brilliant!

You mean from the victim? :dunno Badou's punching technique and foot placement were pretty much fine.

Badou Jack has always had very good technique. It's what kept him in this fight. Makabu was much stronger. But Jack kept jabbing, throwing combinations to the body and throwing straight rights with his guard up high. He'd move to the left out of punching range and fire that right hook. Jack did the same thing to Adonis Stevenson. It looked a little smoother then, of course, because that was five years, 15 pounds and a number of punishing fights ago.

All things considered, it was really an excellent win. If any of us had our heads split open and had been beaten up like Jack was a few years ago by Browne, followed by the Pascal fight, I doubt we'd be able to drive a car and keep it in the proper lane.

Jack is a true warrior. You can see in the clip Makabu was still unsteady when he was trying to congratulate the other team. Both guys took punishment in every round. It was a hard-fought win. I'm very happy for him.

If ... as you are throwing a punch ... your opponent moves out of position ... and as you turn to reset yourself you get hit in the mouth ... and that happens about a hundred times ... you tend to lose your balance.

It's disorienting to get punched in the mouth as you're in the process of resetting yourself. He turned Makabu, and turned him, and turned him, as he punched him in the mouth, all night.

Larry Holmes used to call it making an opponent "dizzy."

Makabu's "balance" had a lot to do with Jack's movement, and hitting Makabu in the mouth every time he tried to reset.

When Jack was stationary, Makabu knocked him around pretty good and didn't look off-balance.

In another thread, you said you thought Jim Corbett was underrated and would give Joe Louis a tough fight.
Go watch Corbett-Courtney again and get back to us.:hang

Jack-Makabu was a very good fight.

Pro 14 years and had an extensive amateur career before that.

Has to take a toll on the body eventually. Its impressive hes looked after himself so well to make it this far.

As with Junior Ilunga Makabu and Martin Bakole Ilunga, many fans aren't aware of the fact that Badou Jack and Jack Catterall are actually brothers

I absolutely knew that fight was the end of his career...............and yet he somehow goes on a tear and fights in what, 9 world title fights in a row through 2 divisions, then wins a belt against a top 5 guy in a 3rd division. That actually is a helluva career considering

Makabu was the poster boy for "Ready to be took" but I didn't think Jack would do the taking and I was delighted to see him do it. Makabu is over and there is talk of Jack retiring but surely not? It's probably going to be painful for him, but he's surely been hanging on for a last bigish payday. Should get one now.

Sure, throw an ATG in the convo with these guys, that's funny.

It's just personal opinion, I don't think much of either of them,, no big deal.
