    Yeah, he sure as hell should have been alright..which shows what a screwball Baer was.

    Baer would have killed Braddock had he really wanted to fight. Unfortunately, he had to work himself into hating a guy like he did Schmeling, and he just couldn't hate James J. Now if he worked himself up against Louis, at least he would have lasted a few more rounds..I don't think anyone could have beaten that version of Louis that beat up Maxie Baer.

    If Baer took Schmeling as seriously as he took Braddock, he gets beat. If Baer comes to fight, he whips him.
