Familiarise yourselves with the other topic about Baer Galento and you might understand the context of this thread. Until then hold off your negative, asinine views.
Yeah, I love the old timers as much as anyone here but even I wouldn't defend Baer's skills. Strong guy with one of the hardest right hands in history but not much else.
I'm saying that you picked the worst piece of footage you could possibly have found to illustrate them, and if you sincerely believe the opposite ,I have to question your boxing acumen and ability to appreciate and understand what you are actually watching.
Yeah, its amazing he won any fights at all. You're detailed ****ysis has finally exposed this fraud. Says more about the era? You are reffering to the era of Robinson, Louis, Armstrong, Ross, Canzoneri etc aren't you? :rofl
Every era has its Pep's and Mayweathers and also it's Galento's and Baer's. Robinson was not a contemporary of Baer's ,he debuted in Oct 1940, Baer had his last fight against Nova in1941. I don't think its Baer being exposed here.:-(
I train at Gloves Community Centre, Amir Khan's gym in bolton England. I have recently been selected for the amateur team for the upcoming season and so my amateur career is about to begin in the very near future. Rest assured ill keep you updated. I have a couple of videos of me on my computer but no sparring unfortunately, i've just uploaded a clip to youtube especially for you. Bear in mind this was back in March so don't be too hard on me I do have a higher guard now ok? :good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwXW1YR5aIQ&feature=youtu.be
Anybody who thinks Baer was so great should watch the Louis fight. Louis did say that Baer hit him the hardest shot he ever took, but, what he was kind enough to leave out, until prodded, was that it came after the bell. Braddock also said that Baer hit him the hardest ever, so guess, he could punch.
I'm not saying that Baer was some Ray Robinson in the skill department but if he was as crude and flawed as some of you would like to portray there is no way he would have won a world title let alone get past a skillful counterpuncher like Max Schmeling
Who me or Baer? 'Baer' in mind i've not had my first fight yet.:good And Lamotta did say DeNiro could have fought professionally.:good
