hi all, this is my first post here, and I need all your expertise. I am looking for a bag glove that offers great protection. I currently have IMF tech ringside bag glove, but they are worn out and the new generation is not made that well. I had considered: throwdown elite glove ring to cage MIM Foam Glove or Rival Elite bag glove. I am not sure if the 16 oz glove though would feel much different than my IMF tech's, so I am hesitant. Hoping you all can help me. Thanks.
If you use your sparring gloves on the bags too much it will destroy the padding, which will make them pretty bad to spar with. I've read pretty good things about the ring to cage gloves, and Rival is a pretty good brand, haven't read anything positive about throwdown gloves though. I think you would be good with the rivals or ring2cage.
You shouldnt really use your bag gloves for sparring, as dtravis said the padding gets destroyed or compact which is bad for your sparring partner, also there is hygiene issues too. IMO your bag/pad gloves shouldnt be too heavy and should weight more like a glove you would fight with. If you get a decent pair, your hands will still be protected without having a bulky/padded glove. I have recently bought the Rival D30's which are 10 oz, these are just a bag glove and not used for sparring btw. They offer nice wrist support and really good hand/knuckle protection, I would recommend them.
Would it be great if 9 oz was the universal weight......... be more UFC for the “boxers”.
No one at my gym ever had any issues with it, and I didn't either. Not everyone can afford multiple sets of gloves.
Yes I use two sets of gloves, but you are right not everyone can afford two pairs. I know a lot of people who use bag/sparring glove combos or settle on a good pair of training gloves. I had recently tried the ringside gel foam gloves, and after three punches sprained my finger. The mesh unit inside the glove is terrible and causes a lot of problems. I might have to give the ring to cage a go. I am always looking to try new equipment, and these are starting to have good reviews. I was told by venum that they would be coming out with a new bag glove by end of summer in a boxing style get up. However, can't wait till then to get a new pair. The only reason I mentioned throwdown was because they are made by the same people that make csi and ringside. Their gear is made better though in my opinion. No d30's though for me. I wouldn't spend that much on a non grant or cleto product unless it sang perfection. So hmmm...lots of choices, but this time I have to consider protection rather than flash. Too bad the IMF tech's weren't made as well as they used to be. Do the rival elites offer good protection and longevity? Or do they fall apart easily.
Try these: This content is protected www.everlast.com/Protex2-Evergel-Training-Gloves/productinfo/EVPT2TG+1
I don't use pro fight gloves on the bag. Sorry. Not really interested in neverlast either. The protex gloves go bunk after three months. I had a few kids in my gym who bought them, and one ended up having a pair fall apart after a month and a half. The regular size grants though in 12 0z are going for 139.99 at checkout right now. Trying to spend about 80 or 90 though on a pair.

Bought them to replace a set of Lonsdale shiters that i picked up from Sports Direct at the turn of the year. There's a world of difference between the Rival gloves and the Lonsdale gloves. If you've got 60 quid spare than don't hesitate to get the rival gloves.
