This is one of the rare occasions where I hope there isn't a co-feature. Because if this winds up being a one fight telecast, that likely means Matthysse-Olusegun will air at the same time HBO is replaying the Klitschko-Charr fight, which most of us will have seen already.
Well, I did always feel that Matthysse vs. Olusegun was more main-event-worthy. So it kind of works out. :!: Are they promoting Smith vs. Garcia to televised cofeature? :think That might make it OK.
According to Rick Reeno, the card will now be a special edition of Shobox and J'Leon Love likely will fight in the televised co-feature.
Daaaaaaamn. Haymon and the Money team doing Sugar Shay dirty if that's true. He's paid far more dues to earn that TV spot far more than Love, and a 10-rounder should outrank an 8-rounder most of the time. :!:
That whole Showtime card has fallen to pieces. Originally they had it lined up with Smith vs. TBA and Quillin vs. TBA on Showtime Extreme as an appetizing morsel, then Matthysse vs. Olusegun and Alexander vs. Bailey in a respectable double-header (that probably would have drawn a lot of viewers if not on the same night as Ward vs. Dawson on HBO) Now with Quillin off the date altogether and Bailey injured, it throws a huge ****** wrench. To me the most sensible thing would be Matthysse vs. Olusegun as a solo main event on Showtime, but keep the Showtime Extreme undercard with Love vs. Valenzuela and then Smith vs. Garcia as the undercard "main event".
With so many fights scheduled its no suprise that one gets postponed due to an injury hopefully this is the only one.At least we still get to see Mathysse do his thing.
