Both men got exposed today fighting on the same card in St. Petersburg.

Jalolov gassed and struggled badly in the second half with Vitaly Viktorovich Kudukhov (a 6'1" heavyweight with a 7-3 pro record), suffering a knockdown in the 5th and getting saved by favorable scorecards in a contest that was a draw on my card factoring in the KD and one point deducted from Kudukhov.

Kuzmin meanwhile failed to establish distance or get any respect with his jab, and ate zillions of clean uppercuts before ultimately getting KTFO by a left hook from Murad Khalidshahovich Khalidov - a prospect with a 10-0 record but coming off an ELEVEN year layoff, absent from the ring since 2014.

I'll take Jalolov over Kuzmin in an amateur three-rounder (and even then, probably not prime for prime), but in the pros over 8 give me Kuzmin by KO. Both have poor stamina, but he showed more heart against Khalidov than Jalolov did against Kudukhov, and has more pop at least.

    Common opponents:

    • Joe Joyce - stopped by Kuzmin in the amateurs; defeated Jalolov in the amateurs
    • Frazer Clarke - lost to Kuzmin in the amateurs, stopped by Jalolov in the amateurs.
    • Ivan Veryasov - stopped by Kuzmin in the amateurs, stopped by Jalolov in the amateurs nine years later
    • Ivan Dychko - lost to Kuzmin in the amateurs, thrice defeated Jalolov in the amateurs
    • Vitaly Kudukhov - lost to Kuzmin in the amateurs, almost beat Jalolov in the pros
    • Sardor Abdullaev - lost to Kuzmin in the amateurs, lost to Jalolov in the amateurs five years later
    • Maxim Babanin - lost to Kuzmin twice in the amateurs, lost to Jalolov in the amateurs eleven years later

You have a 6'7" southpaw with an 81" reach with two gold medals brought home for Uzbekistan, and boasting an overall amateur record of 109-15. In the other corner a Russian standing 6'4" with a 75½" reach and 227-23 amateur record (plus some bareknuckle fighting experience).

Side note: Kudukhov vs. Khalidov would be a hell of a lot of fun. :deal:

A couple of stocky & durable come-forward HW pocket bangers.

I was actually contemplating adding Davit Chaloyan to my Heavyweights to watch list based on his performance against Kudukhov a few months ago. I think actually might now. Jalalov made him look beastly by comparison.
