He's not a bum, he's just a prospect - we don't know how far he can go, yet. Jalolov is just a prospect also... He's got a lot more amateur experience, but he's getting too old without having proven anything as a pro - I suspect he'll never amount to anything.
Even if he only gets to gate keeper status that’s much further than Itauma gets. Too small and tubby. Doesn’t have the foot speed to do anything in the division.
We just don't know yet. Lots of people wrote Dubois off after losing to Joyce pretty much literally just sitting behind a jab... Looked thick as pig****, unable to adapt, too limited to amount to much. And yet, he's built back and improved - he still has limitations, but he's not even prime yet. Guys tend to improve before they hit their prime - not in physical height or reach, obviously, but in plenty of other ways. We don't know what Itauma can be yet... But he's got a lot more time to develop than an older prospect like Jalolov does.
Yep, it's all about how a fighter develops. Plenty of talented guys turning pro go nowhere because they never develop, while some less talented guys can become great fighters because the learn, adapt, keep improving. Itauma right now might go either way. He is far more talented than most prospects I've seen in years. He's not only fast and powerful, but he also knows how to counter already, something guys like Parker still hasn't learned. But if he can't improve beyond this he'll go nowhere. He also needs to show if he has the mental fortitude.
Isn’t he like 6ft 2 or 3? That’s tiny for a heavyweight and he isn’t exactly ripped, he looks like a telly tubby Very slow feet too
Schoolkids don't hold their own or bash up reigning world champions and top 5 contenders in the gym in sparring unless there's something special about them
Itauma is hardly very large - he's a small heavyweight. He has certainly looked better than Jalolov, though.
