Bakole was getting quite a bit of credit for dominating Tony Yoka but now that 42 year old Takam has done the same the win doesn't look so good. He also has a stoppage loss to Hunter who has done very little since then. Where do you see Martin Bakole fitting in today's heavyweight picture?
I wouldn't say he's overrated, in fact I rarely hear about him being spoken about. I thought that fight with Hunter he took the 10 count because of an injury but I might be wrong, it was a close fight from what I recall. Not really fought anyone above decent since but a few routine wins....needs a major step up opponent now, Whyte or Dubois.
He’s a hipster’s favorite and rightly so. He’s at the point where he heas t made the money where he can pick and choose. So we expect him to be the Boogeyman. As far as ratings goes he s top 15 or so.
He beat Yoka with the first punch he landed... The only issue for Bakole was he failed to stop Yoka. Mostly down to inexperience his finishing ability should get better. Not sure Bakole even realized how badly hurt Yoka was in round 1 he is used to having top class sparring where the guys don't get hurt like that. The commentary didn't notice.
Some people on the British forum seem to think he better than he shown but outside of that I don't think so
I remember some people on these boards talking him up after the Yoka fight like he was a really dangerous guy for whatever that's worth. I may have even thought so myself as I considered Yoka a good win. Now I'm not sure Bakole would beat Chisora or not.
Beating Yoka doesn't make him over rated nor under rated....makes him just competent enough, in my opinion!
