It was a real feel good moment to see Bakole win in that fashion on a stage of that magnitude in his big opportunity. And aside from his cocky behaviour at the face off and undeserved #7 ranking, to be fair to Anderson he did actually show a lot of heart and even toughness too to withstand all those heavy blows from Bear Bakole's big paws and last even as long as he did. Bakole is a nightmare

I was surprised Anderson toughed it out as well as he did for as long as he did. I was half expecting him to fold after the opening round, but he was giving it a genuine effort. I was impressed by Anderson, even in crushing defeat. He was far more driven than I'd imagined he would have been under those type of circumstances.

    Bakole is a TANK!

Yes. I don't think he would've made it out of round 1 had Bakole landed those shots 10-20 seconds earlier or maybe had the ref not taken his time with the count and evaluation which ensured Bakole didn't an opportunity to finish him in that round. But Anderson didn't stop trying even though he was swimming against the tide and was being walked down by 284lb grizzly bear which is small by grizzly standards but massive by human standards

His hands are so heavy, he's not throwing anywhere near max effort, just lets the punches flow nicely from awkward angles. Hard guy to deal with.

Against that french guy Yoka who got a fake olympic medal...literally first hook Bakole landed shook him to his boots and had him in flight mode for the entire bout, sadly Bakole failed to execute the stoppage whether that's not reading his opponent quite right mixed with no urgency happy beating him around winning rounds.

Bakole looked like a monster. After the 2 left hooks he threw in the first 5 seconds you just knew Anderson was in big trouble. We’ll know more after his next fight but it seems Billy Nelson might have been right about him all along.
He comes across very well in interviews too.

I’m looking forward to seeing how his career develops now.

Yeah it's quite surprising that he couldn't force a stoppage against Yoka, especially in hindsight, but he's shown far more urgency in his recent fights. When he had Takam and Anderson hurt, he didn't let them off the hook.

But like you said, Yoka was in flight mode, he avoided engaging with Bakole at all costs. Meanwhile Anderson stood toe to toe the entire fight.

Hunter looked extremely stylish when congratulating Martin. I hope Bakole is stubborn enough to give him that rematch.

There are some similarities, yes. I do think Bakole's offense is more varied and better, though, and his hands are probably even heavier. But just as I did with Joyce after Dubois and Parker, I was wondering how many of the punches Anderson was landing that Bakole could take from a sharper and harder puncher. If Joshua, Zhang, Dubois, Kabayel etc got to tee off like that it could well be a different story.

    Hopefully we'll find out.

I agree. Bakole is good but any heavyweight that is so easy to hit will struggle when stepping up vs better competition. Bakole may even pick up a belt at some point but will he be the best in the world at some point? Unlikely.
