It looks like Frank is eyeing Moses vs. Bakole. It would be a great fight, but I think it's too soon and could backfire spectacularly. From what I've gathered, I reckon Frank underrates what Bakole is capable of, and it wouldn't surprise me if it played out like Haye vs Thompson. What do people think?
Had this thread quite recently. Too early for Itauma IMO - but it may be a more sensible fight than Hrgovic who is basically a fringe contender himself in his prime. Itauma might not be far off being ready for Bakole but IMO needs a few more fights before fighting strong gatekeepers. I've always thought people overrated Bakole on here but he is still a lot more proven than Itauma, and is in his prime as well basically. Itauma has only beaten good journeymen so far in McKean, and very likely Balogun soon. He could prove to be a great fighter but no need to rush him and sell himself out. People thought Jared Anderson was the next big thing, and he had proven more than Itauma before getting dominated by Bakole himself. It would be very, very dangerous for Itauma to stand and trade with Bakole with the experience Itauma has currently.
After Balogun, Itauma should be focusing on weak gatekeepers Charles Martin or Dave Allen for example. Even Igor Macedo (who knocked out TKV) would be an interesting fight.
Warren isn’t eyeing up making the fight imo. Bakole is signed to Boxxer who Warren has issues with which is why he’s saying this to make them look bad. Once Itauma beats Balogun he’ll headline his own show in London in August / September potentially against Nelson Hysa.
I like both these guys. I'll watch em' fight any time against anybody. I think Itauma likely wins, but he may get roont if it goes badly. By the time he fought Bakole, most of us did not favor Anderson to be the bonafide goods. Maybe they could pay Anderson enough to get his ass beat by Itauma. That might raise Itauma's profile and make the Bakole fight more attractive to all concerned?
Frank says alot of things. Facts are that his prospect has fought 1 round in 9 months. And next fight will be short and pointless. Poor Frank.
Too early for Ituama. Bakole is hittable, so it’s entirely possible that Ituama blasts him out. But it isn’t likely. Bakole is far more proven. He’s shown his limitations, but he’s a seasoned vet, he’s a hard hitter with a wide offensive arsenal, and we just watched him march through some adversity to take over the direction of a fight (early on, was looking like Ajagba might actually stop him, and then Bakole took over the fight and made Ajagba run for most of the rest of the fight). Ituama? What’s he faced? Tomato cans he blasts out in one round? so, it’s too early. Better choices would be Wallin or Whyte if they’re looking for a name. Hrgovic would be risky, too early for him as well.
Wallin yes, doesn't have scary power and is more likely to win on cards - it'd be a good choice, if he was up for it. Whyte hasn't looked great in a while, but he has a huge punch on him and a lot of experience - great name recognition if you're confident of a win, but also risky in that if he connects with a left hook, for example, your prospect is in pieces. Hrgovic would be a tough one, not a huge chin check, but has enough power to stop guys with less than great chins... And it looks like you have to beat him on cards at the moment, which is risky with a guy who isn't used to going rounds and would likely need to make up ground through the latter half of the fight.
I could defo see the Hysa fight happening. Hysa has a very good looking undefeated record of mostly KO's but then again Hysa beaten purely just part-timers (a level below than journeymen) and is slow and ancient. It may make sense to fight Hysa but I can't even say its a step-up from McKean or Balogun at the same time.
Bakole is finished and ready to be beaten by Itauma, he is out of shape and cannot expect to beat Itauma who is always in full training. Bakole is more experienced but he is not such a good fighter that Itauma would fear him...
Also him being Albanian means he'll help sell a lot of tickets, plus he's ranked with the WBO and has a good relationship with Queensberry. Definitely see it happening next.
