The way amateur Frazier rapidly grew his Afro to trap that Eastern Bloc guy in the corner and wail on him was brutal. It's a pity ESPN never televises that one.
When did Holyfield become Bald Holy tho? It was a grradual thing I know, but where is the cut off point, from.. Holyfield with very little hair left to... Holyfield s bald!!!
There have been many great thread titles here. But this has to be among the top three or four. I salute you. In any just world, sure. But this is ESBBN24ESB and I don't know if that is a just world.
When I was younger, I had a mixed reaction to Cosell. He was annoying, but old 70s fights without him seemed a little less interesting, for some reason. Fortunately, I grew out of this adolescent phase, and now straightforwardly dislike him. There isn't a single fight that couldn't be improved by removing his ear-worm commentary.
I never thought about it until recently, but I kinda think as a young kid Howard expanded my vocabulary. I mean, where else would I have learned the word “truculent?”
Guys, stop dragging poor Songshadow for imagining a bald Joe fighting Ali... but then start dragging him for the unseemly faux pas of mentioning only a fighter's last name in his title, as though a higher degree of specificity weren't merited. There are other notable Fraziers just in Joe's own weight class alone! Upon hearing "bald Frazier" of course one's first thought is going to be of super heavyweight Stacy Norvell "Bigfoot" Frazier. And then of course there's Marvin, although Little Smoke's hairline is still hanging on (with the festive adornment of a grey skunk-stripe down the middle now).
