Briggs knocked Lyakhovich out. Vitali put Briggs into the hospital. The referee should have stopped that fight.

Deontay Wilder vs Shannon Briggs. It would be a step up. Even though Briggs is probably about 45 years old it would easily be his best opponent.

Liakhovich, and Audley was damaged goods and absolutely shot.

Briggs looks like Kimbo Slice training underwater after a spliff.

I've always wondered why Briggs didn't get a fight with a Klitchko until 2010. That is someting I wonder about, there's a number of big names from the 90's and 00's that didn't have a shot at the Klitchkos. Guys like Briggs, Tua, Raham (not til 2006), Ruiz, Valuez and McCall for example. They just lost at the wrong time? Is it the way promotion works? An undefeated fresh face is seen as more marketable than a guy who had a shot and lost? Maybe I'm forgetting Vitali retired in 2003 and Wlad took a few years to establish dominance.
I mean Briggs was a Lineal Champ and looks like a monster, surely he's marketable?

You can blame the Don for several of those fights. And yeah, Vitali's retiring didnt help either.

Don wanted options on both brothers while they were prepared for a rematch and maybe a 3rd fight with another DKP fighter, but 6 fights just to make one fight with one of Kings fighters is insane.

I know that's the reason for no Ruiz or Valuev. Could be behind the others as well.

When the Klitschkos held titles they were forced to defend them against several King fighters due to mandatories but they held the cards as Champ, and King didnt get to force additional fights on them.

Briggs looks in shape. With his iron chin, he could be a step-up for Wilder. He is 41 years old now, not to old to get this kind of fight.

If Briggs landed a long straight right on Wilder I'd like to see how Wilder handles it.
