He’d hurt Louis in the previous round and his post fight quote of “what’s the point of being Irish if you can’t be stupid” seems to indicate he went for broke.

 

That's nice. Footage indicates that he was dragging his one foot after the other and was getting trapped into corners and getting combo'd. He finally decides to launch an all out assault against Louis, Louis survives and then intercepts Conn's one-two with a cross between the one two and Conn becomes seriously hurt. He goes up close to nullify Joe's attack but Louis moves back and nails him with several flush uppercuts that snap Billy's head back. Louis then sets him up for a 4 hit combo which puts Billy down for a full count.
He said, she said they said blah blah blah, Billy only went for a knockout after escape was evidently impossible. Louis had 3 whole rounds to finish a tired Conn and it would've happened at any point before the end no matter what Conn did.
