Confidence is cool. Arrogance ain't. I'd be grossed out if Inoue was saying he's an ATG, special, and a generational talent (even though he fulfills all three). Inoue instead says stuff like he doesn't think he's done enough and that his power isn't special.
I’ll admit that Bam certainly didn’t look all that impressive or special. Could be a mixture of having an off-night and Israel Gonzalez being highly underestimated. The low blows he did certainly doesn’t bode well on him. Despite looking underwhelming Bam is still developing, he can use his last fight as a learning experience to improve. As of now he has a long way to go, and he’s certainly not ready for Gallo or Chocolatito from what we saw last night.
People are so quick to write off Bam and call him overrated just because he didn't dominate his last opponent. It seems nowadays a fighter HAS to be so dominant and not lose a single round in order to not be called a hypejob or an exposed fighter. He's only 22, he has a lot of time to improve. A fighter NEEDS to have a tough fight against a tougher than expected opponent in front of them so they can use that as a learning experience and get better. Bam did alright even when Gonzalez was giving him some issues, still showed toughness, poise, and skills.
Bam wasnt fighting a bum, Gonzalez is a good fighter who made Bam work for the win it reminded me a bit about Estrada fight with Argi Cortes where Estrada also had to work hard for the win and Cortes like Gonzalez was no bum either hes a good fighter who will give lots of fighters hell and against the right guy he can win a belt. Instead of talking **** about the likes of Bam and Estrada who are both top fighters give credit to their opponents for giving them a great fight instead of the usual just happy to be here type of performance we get from manny fighters (Canelo opp cough cough).
Exactly, Gonzalez isn't a bum at all, he's a tough customer for anyone. Despite the dirty low blows from Bam it was still a highly entertaining fight. Definitely the kind of fight Bam needs. It was a close, hard fought fight. Hardly a robbery. Gonzalez isn't a pushover. Bam will only continue getting better, just have to see how he looks in his next fight.
Why isn't Sunny ''The Slickness'' Edwards the most popular fighter in the US? They hype the hell out any homegrown 'talent' who is moderately slick over there and propel them up the P4P rankings at breakneck speed for beating up leprechauns and shot cadavers they're twice the size of but Sunny is slicker than an eel covered in grease sliding down a water chute and he already features in most people's P4P top 10.
It was obvious that gonzález cant crack an egg with his punches. Bam was there receiving punches because he didnt care. It was too obvious, he didnt even care about avoiding the punches most of the time. Had the oponent been a better oponent no way the fight would have been the same at all. too much drama for something that has no importance at all.
Special, ATG, and once-in-a-generation that Bam! Now he's ended up looking foolish hyping himself to the heavens. And it was a clear robbery. 8-4 Gonzalez. Bam's a dirty little ***t as well resorting to deliberate low blows.
You see, man... That kind of arrogance and smug attitude... it ain't confidence. It's self delusion. Shoulda just shown humility and been like I'm improving every fight, I want to be the best, I believe in my skills, etc.. Don't go around calling yourself an ATG and generational fighter because you beat 2 corpses back to back. He woulda had my support.
Nothing wrong with his attitude, it's worked with other great fighters of the past. You can hate on the mindset all you want but it has helped fighters go far. He either makes or breaks, we shall see where he ends up going.
