So other than potassium (spelling). What other nutrients can you get from eating bananas? Also, what do bananas do for you aside from what the potassium does for you?
Bananas nutritional wise have vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), a little vitamin C (ascorbic acid), and yes, potassium. B6 helps produce body chemicals insulin, hemoglobin, and some antibodies. It also helps make protein compounds used to make body cells. C helps heal cuts and wounds, and protects against infection and bruising. Potassium, (other then helping prevent cramping) helps regulate the fluid and mineral balance in and out of body cells. Also helps maintain blood pressure by blunting sodiums effect.
Thank you sir. This is more the answer I was looking for. I have recently started eating a banana every morning with my breakfast, and was just curious as to what nutrients it provides for me.
I ALWAYS have either two things for my breakfast. Two eggs (both whites, one yolk) and two pieces of wheat toast with peanut butter, or a bowl of Special K cereal with a banana. I eat a banana just about every day, I eat one before training for a snack sometimes too. They're noted as being one of the foods with the most potassium.
