I was but in my defence I was only 8/9 so didn't have a clue what was going on. I watched his debut and the next I heard and saw of him he was fighting Danny Williams and losing for the first time.

Alexander Alexeev, Antwone Smith as both mentioned spring to mind. Mijares. There's probably a tonne of others but I can't really think at the moment.

Darchinyan beating Mijares the way he did was seen as a huge upset at the time wasn't it? Was Amsterdam ever seen again on the General after that fight? :D

For those who don't know Amsterdam was a regular poster on the General who thought Mijares was a genuine ATG fighter in the making. Ahh the General was actually a half-decent forum back then, how times have changed. :verysad

I very much doubt that I was the only one on this but I wasa paying passenger on the 'Haye to clean up/genuinely attempt to clean up the Heavyweight division' train.

I blame that 60 second highlight reel of Paulie that Sky put together when they were promoting Hatton-Mallnaggi, with careful editing they somehow made him look like a cross inbetween Ray Robinson, Mike Tyson and Willie Pep.

Mijares was already in my top 5 P4P. I had him down to dominate Vic and even took the **** out of a poster who thought Vic would knock him out. I'm surprised he never came back to tell me I was a twat who knew nothing about boxing. He was well within his rights to.

After Vic lost to Donaire, he was considered as being a little limited. I think people though he'd be chasing Mijares and eating sharp 1-2 combos all night on his way to a lopsided points loss. But Vic was a good amateur who'd gotten away from his strengths to focus simply on power-punching.

So, yeah, it was an upset - but afterwards, it was clear Mijares had his own flaws which were just waiting to be exploited. Without a plodder standing in front of him, with good power and superior timing, he couldn't figure out what to do.

well i can confirm that Mad Matt Hatton Express still has a few seats if any of you gentlemen or ladies would like to get aboard a bandwagon that has a backup generator, spare wheels, a full toolkit and lays down its own tracks as it travels along...

next stop: the bolton arena in november, for the defence of the European Championship of the Realm against one Roberto Belge, boasting a KO percentage(2 of 4 coming in his first 3 fights) of....wait for it.........................................

We had a little detour, but it could be back on course. I doubt it, however i'm not ready to give up on Chad just yet.

They're on about Cloud-Dawson in February/March time. Fair play to Chad if he takes that fight, i still believe but he needs to sort his head out. You never know, that Pascal fight could be the making of him.

 To be fair I jumped on after he was taken apart I just followed him because of the heart he showed in the fight. You got a feel for a guy who has a term named after him for complete domination:lol:
