'Banging' Ben Edwards will take on Shane Tilyard for the vacant Australian heavyweight title on July 6th. The title was vacated by Lucas Browne.

    Go Benny :good

Ben Edwards also claims Lucas Browne is arrogant, and wants to have a crack at him after he wins the title against Tilyard.

Mate I'd love to see Edwards take boxing seriously as much as the next bloke but to date it hasnt happened.

He has openly commented that his passion is kickboxing and has said he makes more money there.

If he gets himself in condition (which he seems to have some trouble with) and goes full time to boxing it would be great to see what he can achieve. At the end of the day, Lucas has been doing what we wish Ben would do in boxing. They started around the same time. I'd like to see Benny get some matches under his belt before coming up against Lucas, who has developed a bit from his experience now.

Watched Ben fight on Fox last Friday night and he looked as fit as he has ever been. Went 3 full rounds and didn't gas that badly. That is a big positive because I have seen him gas after the 1st...badly. I don't know how much longer he has got in kickboxing. His opposition chop his legs to pieces. He is limited in kickboxing as a result. It is to hard to measure how good he is at boxing because he is part time at it. I can't see Ben beating Lucas Browne at this stage, or any time in the future to be honest. Brownes dedication to boxing and his improvement puts him well ahead in my opinion. Anyway, that train has left the station and Browne is operating as a full time professional boxer and has left many in his wake back here.

I like Ben, he could do very well if he dedicated himself to boxing only.

He's been very successful at it too. Having won a K-1 World Grand Prix and a couple of ISKA Super heavyweight titles. Ben's MMA record stands at 34 wins (31 KO) from 44 bouts. But according to that article he's putting that aside, for the moment at least, to concentrate on winning the Australian heavyweight title.

Aye. Good to see. Another Berran. Hope its a full boxing card and not a mixed one like the capital punishment series. Be good to get some other local pro's on too like Steve Lovett. Not sure if he's bound to Geale's mob though.

I havent actually been to a fight before, I'll have to pull some of the lads together. Should be good.

Good fight, someone is getting stopped.

It's a disgrace though that Brown was stripped, he was told he had to fight Sol. Let me guess, winner has to fight Sol, if he feels like fighting. If not they get stripped and someone else fights for title. Until Sol is ready.

Yeah i havent been to the MMA or kick bxoing in berra but have only heard good things about the brance for war series. I only attend the local Am boxing shows. Usually their good but ACT boxing is a frace, very poorly run imo.

Not a problem mate, i mght have to don a ESB shirt for the night :good
