Oh boy...this is pretty much a disaster for Maccarinelli.

I assume this means no vacant WBO belt shot then? So that's out the window. He's also going to end up with a last-minute opponent that's likely to be poor, so little credit for Enzo no matter how much he thumps him. And Enzo has been focussing like crazy on this fight, and that's out the window too.

Yeah, crap end to a crap year for Macca it would seem.

I hope this isnt true, Banks v Mac was the stand out fight in the UK that night (well on the Sky card anyway). I just keep getting directed back to one (agreed) ****ing terribly written BBC sport article no matter what I google so Im hoping its just a **** up..If seperate articles dont start appearing its bull****,,,fingers crossed

Damn this was the best fight too on the card.

I wonder why banks pulled out

Hide or Flores are both in the top 5 and we would be winnable fights for Macca. No way they'll bring in Alekseev, even if he's rated just behind Banks. To do that would demonstrate MAJOR balls that Frank Warren just doesn't have.

I highly doubt either Alexeev or Flores would take a fight like that at six days notice, and nor should anyone expect them to.

Hide might, but he has history with Warren that makes that unlikely.

Macca-Hide would be a spectacular fight if they can get it put together, and would be more than worthy of a belt.

Definitely, but I don't think Warren would risk it.

Herbie's old but he's still got quick hands and good power. That would seem a bad combination for a comeback fight for Enzo.

I wonder if they just put it up, but it says clearly at the top of the page:
This is very unfortunate, I was looking forward to Banks KOing Big Macc. Maybe we'll see it early next year...hopefully each fighter gets a tune-up under their belts before then.

Yeah, that story has been updated since earlier. They have a whole new story now with all the details. Previously they didn't have any info other than that Banks was out so they just changed the headline and inserted a couple of new sentences in a previous story about the fight.

I actually think Hide would turn up on short notice. Damn right he thinks he can beat Enzo, and even though he just had a fight the other week, he would NOT turn this down!

Come on Frank, bite your tongue, call Herbie up and keep this Card as a decent one!

Would Hide show up to a world title bout on just 5 days notice? If so, he really IS crazy...in a good way. :good

I am still hoping to see Alexeev the great take this fight on short notice (fat chance).
