An intriguing match up here, the smooth text book boxing of Rose, or the homemade brand of movement and fast combinations of Carabello. 15 x 3 rounds. Ten-point must scoring. No explaination, your vote does not count. Closing date: 3rd January.
This is a razor, razor close bout. Well done for not picking walkovers. In a battle of two stylists, I'll go with Rose down to a split decision over 15 with both at their peak. If anyone picks Carraballo likewise, I won't bat an eye. This one is a photo finish. Scartissue
The draw worked out perfect, every fight is close IMO. I think Rose is more proven, but potentially Carabello could be construed as the 'better' fighter.
I absolutely agree with you GPater ! But in my opinion.....Caraballo was busier, busier and fast enough to land some punches and I don't think Bernardo would get hit a lot. Because Rose was a good boxer, no doubt, very cagey fighter, no doubt, but maybe too cagey and reluctant to take risks against a good combination puncher with good mobility like Bernardo..... Close but i like Caraballo in this one.... Caraballo by decision (close decision)
How so Greg?. I'd like to see more of him than i have before committing to a strong opinion myself. He looked a bit better technically than i remembered in the recent Jofre footage(despite some ridiculous missed punches), but was a very awkward, technically sloppy fighter relying on blazing speed and athleticism against Harada. Not that those things are necessarily a bad combo mind you.Plus with Rose being a classic boxer-puncher while having very little power and imo an ordinary chin, he can potentially be dragged into tough fights with a variety of styles and levels of fighter. Two tough fighters to analyse in these kind of hyptheticals imo.
Yeah, a typical Lionel Rose line call fight. And typically, I think Lionel will get the nod. To me he was more well schooled and will find a way to peck and prod around Caraballo's maelstrom of punches, escaping with a split dec.
You could argue that Rose despite being more tested was not as talented. I don't agree with it myself. I rank Rose very highly at Bantamweight.
A real close one. i see Carabello getting off fast and possibly stunning Rose early. Rose works him out and comes on strong from the middle of the fight beating Bernardo to the punch and making his strength tell. Rose 9-6
I just wanted to weigh my thoughts in after studying some Carabello. Not that it will count for anything now. I think Carabello would take an early lead with sharp left hand work and some awkward shots, I just don't think he is disciplined enough to hold of Rose, I think Rose would be slightly more aggressive than he usually was, looking to stay just out of range to land a right hand whenever the chance presents itself, as a counter or just an opening through Carabello's ill discipline. I think Rose would be landing that straight right lead all night long and doing some damage with it. Carabello would have some moments with his faster hands and feet but Rose is miles a head technically. And in the championship rounds I can see him putting some hurt on carabello. Also I thought Harada looked pretty crap in the Carabello fight, and he was an awakward style for Harada.
