Another superb match up. In Herrera we have a Mexican technician, who could fight and box superbly. In the other corner we have, perhaps the favourite, Eder Jofre, the superb Brazilian boxer-puncher. 15 3 minute rounds Remember if you do not give reasoning behind your vote, it WILL NOT count. Guess I'll get off first here. I think Herrera is a pretty nice technician, he keeps his defence tight; has a nice jab; good counterpuncher; and works the body thoroughly. He has some pop in his shots and is an accurate puncher. However, I think Jofre is probably superior in every department here. I see a pretty good fight with Jofre out jabbing Herrera and setting up the hard combo's into Herrera. Herrera will have some success as he is no mug and can land some sharp counterpunches. i just think generally he will be too static and will be outgunned in the many shoot outs.
An upset isn't out of the question here. Herrera could give Jofre the same problems he gave Olivares by getting off first with his short, compact shots. Both Jofre and Olivares liked to wing/loop their hooks, which is where Herrera excelled in getting inside of them with his much tighter hooks. In an in-fight it's anyone's guess, but I tend to think class wins out in this one, and will go for Jofre in a great fight, probably a late stoppage.
People will want to say Jofre of course, and I completely respect that, but I don't see any reason why Herrera can't sneak it on points with sharper punching and a good dose of range control, if he can survive. Who is to say, really, whether or not he can survive? He was a tough hombre though. Herrara, narrow UD.
Jofre trying to outfight Herrera is suprised he is behind in the mid rounds. smartens up an begins to box. Eder takes control late to secure a more cautious points victory. fustrated that he had to outbox , more than dominate his foe...
You guys won't believe how close I have these two in my personal all-time ratings. I rate Herrera very high and his strength is incredible for an 118 lber. I'm going with Jofre on slightly more versatility over 15, but just. Scartissue
Have you seen this thread. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278173&highlight=jofre
Herrera was a good boxer, had a good jab and good fundamentals ....Very good fighter.... But....Jofre was a good boxer too and with a solid shot, was a vicious body puncher.... Eder can force it into an inside fight, where he wins.... Eder Jofre by decision.....Close decision !
another close one and not a foregone conclusion. I think Jofre takes but it's hard. Herrera fights him all the way but Eder has the last say in more exchanges. Jofre on points!
