This project was being talked about late in his life. Tragically he was struck by a car and killed, while walking to a meeting with the would be producers. With no identification on his person, he was buried in the paupers plot, in an unmarked grave, and the truth was only discovered recently. Perhaps it is time for some enterprising film director to resurrect this idea?
I don't think there's any point while there's no film of Sam Langford's life. Plus, a lot of the most interesting stuff that happens to him that are the most interesting are kind of undermining, like accidentally shooting himself or the desperate struggles with Tommy West. I think there are more interesting subjects for and from that era, including Ketchel, Langford, Johnson (why there isn't a modern re-telling of that story I have no idea), Young Griffo guys like that.
I would like to have seen Jack Palance in the role of Jack Dempsey.Treat Williams later did a respectable job.
Nah, Jack Palance couldn't make me believe he was Dempsey he doesn't have right the look. I think if they were going to get any actor in Hollywood for the Manassa mauler story they should've used the guy that played Dare Devil Jack before he got old and got into the restaurant business.
The action starts around the 2:42 minute mark. I have the full interview without the talk over. Anyway if your haven't seen it, enjoy. He was working as a janitor. This content is protected
I like how you need to add “I have the full interview without the talk over” so does everyone? It comes off and on YouTube every other month. What’s gonna bother you and this isn’t me joking wannabe Klompton, I actually have something many probably haven’t seen in my “Private collection”. I have a 20 something second clip of Barbados Joe hitting a light bag as an older fighter.
Well then, care to PM what your have seen? Now comes the part where you shrill up. I'd like to see you prove me wrong, surely you have have one.
