Started this thread because some guy on here said Barbados Joe beat heavies and was near Floyd`s size, so therrefore Mayweather could have beat a prime Mike Tyson! lol So would Floyd have stood a chance of beating Joe?

Walcott was 5’1 and built like a stump. The only “Heavyweight” he beat was Joe Choynski, who weighed 163 pounds. He did also manage a 6 round draw with some bum who was legit Heavyweight sized named Fred Russell. Those are the only ones I’m aware of him ever fighting, actually.

He’s a legend for his stature and punching power, but I wouldn’t be making him a betting favorite in most matchups against elite fighters, even at Lightweight. Certainly not post-1920. Floyd makes easy work of him.

He was arguing with Boxed Ears, by the way.

I'm pretty confident Mayweather would have won.

Walcott would have a punchers chance, but Mayweather had a good chin and defence.

Walcott was one of the hardest punching welterweights of all time, if not the hardest.

He also seems to have applied a lot of pressure.

Obviously we have not film of him, but it certainly sounds like he might have been the kind of fighter who could have beaten Mayweather.

For his part Mayweather would obviously have a boxers chance against any welterweight.
