I think you got a point there! Robinson losing to Maxim proves, without reasonable doubt, that Walcott was the bigger puncher.

I love how people judge fighter's punching ability based on KO% record. As lazy as ranking basketball players on scoring averages...

It depends entirely upon the circumstances.

If the only information you are going on is the fighters Boxrec record, you will not form a very informed opinion.

No, but it might make you doubt whether he would have demolished Choynski.

I know that it is not all and you have to know the fighter , his record and rivals closely. BUT still a 36% is a very low % unusually low for a top puncher

    Factors to consider:

High number of fights vs elite opponents.

Walcott blew of his thumb with a revolver, and his record went south badly after that.

Fought way past his prime, with his stats suffering accordingly.

By all accounts Walcott often carried opponents, in order to get fights.

He bought a revolver, and while he was showing it off to somebody, it went off removing his thumb.

After that he could never form a fist properly.

A lot of that sort of thing went on, so it is at least plausible.

That is the most tragically hilarious accident I've ever heard.

On October 18, 1904, Walcott accidentally shot and killed Nelson Hall, 40, when a gun Walcott was holding discharged. One of the bullets from the automatic weapon struck Walcott in the hand, causing him to lose several fingers. Walcott was arrested for manslaughter, but later released after a grand jury determined no charges were warranted.
