Arum said there are three opponents under consideration for Chavez's next fight: European champion Darren Barker of England, former "Contender" participant Peter Manfredo Jr. of Providence, R.I., and Marco Antonio Rubio, Chavez's Mexican countryman.

"I think we'll try to do Chavez against (junior middleweight titlist) Miguel Cotto next spring in a big pay-per-view, but in the meantime we're looking at those guys for Chavez in the fall," Arum said.

Barker is now no.3 for WBC now.

Honestly Barker could comprihensivley outbox Chavez Jnr at get a decision in Mexico or US.

anyway get the feeling it will be Manfredo lol

Spot on, it would be fantastic, a relatively easy night's work for Barker!

I think I would still fancy Chavez to win this going on how good Barker has been recently. Good fight though and I hope but doubt that it will get made.

Not easy but Barker would have a decent chance of beating him.

I made a post on this earlier in the week. They need to forget all about Martinez and go gunning for Chavez Jnr.

I fancy Barker will box his ears off.

I really don't think he'd have it any harder than in the Spada fight, I really don't rate Chavez Jnr.

Chavez is better than Spada from what ive seen, he can box a bit and slug, and use movement. I dont rate Barker any higher than id rate Zbik tbh.

I do agree with this, I just think Barker was fighting ring rust as much as he was Spada, whereas against Chavez he'd be a lot fresher.

Lee is much more likely to get that shot.
