Barker, Macklin, Lee...Who has the best chance at winning a world championship?

What on earth gives you that idea?

Let's get something straight, none of the 3 are even approaching world-class, and I'm not convinced that either Macklin or Barker could get past the better journeymen in the tougher U.S circuits. But what on earth makes you think that Lee and ESPECIALLY Macklin would knock out Barker.

Seriously, I want to hear this.....

The only half decent comparable fighter that Barker has fought is Belghecham and he was lucky to win that. Barker has operated at a lower level than Lee and Macklin and has much the more padded record. For example, I doubt he could have beaten the likes of McEwan/Asikainen.
Macklin would walk through Barker's powder puff shots and lay him out cold.. Lee would do the same but with more style :yep

Darren Barker has the best chance.

 

Pay no attention to the Asikanen fight, I'd write that off as a fluke, as most 1st round victories are when similar quality opponents fight, and since then he simply hasn't been very good against mediocre opponents. Barker's Commonwealth level opponents are clearly of a similar (if not superior) standard to the likes of Pintos, Varon and that Georgian bloke.

Someone before came up with the idea that Macklin might actually be past it...there might actually be truth in that, as I remember Macklin at one point being better than he is now.

As for Lee, I just don't think he has progressed that much since his early career. Unlike Macklin and Barker, he has genuine power and speed and is more tested than both, fighting on a tougher (not toughest) circuit before his mild steps up. His win against McEwan is probably better than anything either Barker or Lee has achieved. Now, McEwan to me looked unimpressive in his previous fights, but at least he was looking unimpressive on an extremely tough circuit, where some of the journeyman probably could beat Macklin and perhaps Barker. Unfortunately, Lee is a little exposed as being suspectible to a technically superior fighter and/or a big puncher, while Barker hasn't reached his ceiling yet - that is why I think Barker probably has a better (yet still nearly non-existent) shot at winning a belt.

IMO Macklin is the best of the three, but has a slim chance of beating Sturm in Germany. If he loses there, I don't know if he will get another shot again (unless he loses by a dodgy decision- which could happen) Barker could get a title shot under Matchroom, but I don't think he will win when/if it happens.
Lee is the worst of the three IMO and therefore has the least chance of winning a title. He might beat Vera when/if they rematch but thats as good as it will get for him.

So in summary, I don't really think any of them will be world champ :-(
