Barker-Macklin off

    The clash between British and European middleweight champion Darren Barker and challenger Matthew Macklin is off after Barker suffered a hip injury.

    Barker, 28, was set to fight Macklin at Birmingham's LG Arena on 18 September.
    The match was to be one of the highlights of the biggest British boxing card this year, with Frank Warren's show including 10 title bouts.
    It is a bitter blow for Macklin, also 28, who vacated the European title in March after suffering an injury.

    Watch out for the rest of the card to fall apart as is the norm.

    **** sake, though I dont think anyone in the world expected the whole card to go ahead. Now we wait for more to fall through.

    The only surprise is that it took this long to be called off. Brook v Jennings has to be next, surely?
