Saying Barker would stop him later in the fight anyway so it doesn't matter is a ridiculous thing. Boxing is an unpredictable sport and if that was the case then every fight should be a 3 rounder. The fight should have been a NC and some ref's may have DQ'd Barker. A KO win is a ridiculous result for Parris to give.
he got hit with a shot, buy a big puncher, touched down and was fully recovered 3 secs later. it shows that Barker had a bad defence in his 10th fight, not that he has a dodgy chin.
Hmmmm, not sure you can say that after one decent shot! It takes a lot more than one punch to show if someone can take a shot or not. Some fighters can take a shot to the chin ok but if you touch their temple then they're in trouble. There are many ways you can be hit so you can't say one shot proves anything. Same arguement goes the other way too, if you say Macklin being knocked out by Moore you could argue he is chinny but if you watch the rest of his career he's never been in trouble. One clip doesn't mean too much.
you're telling me that because a fighter suffered a flash knockdown and wasn't hurt that it proves he has a good chin ? That was his 14th fight anyway, and in his 11th he showed serious question marks about his beard which have been yet to be fully answered. I wouldn't say Barker has a poor chin, but he hasn't proven to have a rock solid one either and we'll only find out how good it really is when he takes on Macklin.
Anyone can get knocked down even if they have a stron chin. AA v Dirrell for example. And don't tell me AA has a bad chin.
-------------------------------------- You know everyone said that Duddy had the best chin out of the current crop of 160 in these shores. After seeing Lee V Vera again and again I disagree though. Lee took harder shots then Duddy did (even against Smichet & Chavez Jr) and in my mind Vera has gone on to show that despite being stopped himself he is capable of stopping other opponents. Lee might have been stopped but he wasn't knocked down and the thump of those punches was loud enough to be heard on camera. unreal chin he showed in that fight.
-------------------Who here is in favour of a replay in boxing? Foothall definitely needs it - and now I think boxing does too. Anyone see Friday fight night last week -something similar happened.
that was the shitest attempt at trying to get between 2 fighters ive ever seen, he then doesnt have a clue what to do afterwards. NC but no way is it a DQ, Samuel's looks as if hes going in for another couple of punches.
TBH I don't see why they couldn't look back and make a decision in situations like that? You on bout the Don George fight?they came to right decision there but how the ref and corner allowed that to go on as long as it did was sickening.
Duddy has the best chin Imo. Duddy reacts better when tagged hard unlike lee who gets panicky when the bombs start landing around the chin. Lee doesnt have a bad chin and it will take a good man to spark him cold but Duddy recovers mentally faster and goes straight back to his offensive game much faster.
Both Lee and Duddy have great chins. Lee can take the harder punches but Duddy can take volumes of punches and still keep coming forward. Barker's chin would have to be questioned, is this guy McIntosh who had him down twice a hard puncher?
No doubt it was a feeble attempt to get between them - but like I said you dont need to get between them for the fight to be stopped. The vocal command was given before the punch was thrown - only one fighter threw a punch after the the ref called 'stop'. I genuinely think it was borderline late enough for a DQ - Sameuls was going in for a punch but when the command came he hesitated and relaxed his arms - his hands are at his waist at this stage. Anyway, there was no need for a reply for the board - the ref knows when he called stop and he knows when the punch was thrown - without wanting to get liablous but maybe Parris has been on one to many situations like this for it to be a coincidence?
