So, Barker and Sergio are in discussions to have a fight. Which is fine. They both retired due to injury and are both old, but a 4-6 round fight between them, fair enough. Whatever you want. It's effectively an exhibition fight and there's nothing wrong with that. However, Barker said he is only doing the fight if it is held at WEMBLEY. So that means these two (both of whom went into big fights with injuries meaning they had no chance of competing this conning their fans) are demanding to prop up a PPV slot on an AJ undercard. The arrogance is utterly astounding. Are you in agreement? Or are you happy for this to be on an AJ card, probably just after Dave Allen and before Katie Taylor?
I saw this nonsense from Barker and when he mentioned Wembley I took it that he was joking. Barker needs a reality check. The simple fact that senile Michael Buffer announced him as “Baker” should bring him back to reality about his standing in boxing even when he was active. Darren Barker should stick to his luxury job of commentating on non-Sky broadcasts of Matchroom shows. He’s lucky he’s in an industry that allows him to sniff a dozen lines on the job.
If they put it on the non-televised part of a Nxt Gen show for example, then fine, I could accept that even though it's not a fight I'm personally interested in seeing. But if it's part of a PPV broadcast then that's a different story. Surely they wouldn't have the brass neck to do that. Or would they??
The nerve of this guy after letting hundreds of his fans pay good money to go watch him in that farce against Sturm, knowing he was himself injured, is astounding.
Are you really that stupid? He was basically saying only if it is at Wembley, as in it is never happening in a million years... Then he told Kugan to stop talking about it as it was nonsense.
Tbf if you look at his Twitter activity over the last couple of days you’d see that he is deadly serious about this. He wants it on the AJ undercard in April.
I lack the mathematical knowledge to convey just how little interest I would have in this fight. It's probably a minus followed by a lot of numbers.
"I'm just a normal bloke with the dream of fighting at our national stadium and want you lot to support me" Aye mate, that's exactly what he's saying. That was last night and said it was just in talking stage.
you could always show your utter disgust at their "arrogance" (?) by not buying whichever bull pay per view they end up on - outlandish suggestion I know
Bit concerning that Sergio is "unsettled " in retirement.. . .I'd hate to see him get beat up after such a glorious career.
