You could see that stoppage coming a mile off!! *****ng ref, that cut didn't get any worse since the first time the doctor looked at it!
I have got alot of love for Marsili. When he fought derry i watched him on youtube and in the footage i saw he threw one sneaky punch against a guy and straight after i saw that shot i bet on him to beat derry by stoppage @7/1. I remember posting the footage on here
Exactly, that was bull****. But the ref was just desperate for the doc to call it. And yep it was no worse. They both exchanged a few punches and Purdy barely landed any on that eye.
Kicking off afterwards too with Marsili getting involved in an argument haha. Safe to say that's the best fight I've ever seen in Italy!
It sure was fun while it lasted. I thought it would be too, but I forgot about it until literally seconds before the fight started.
British stoppages are ruining British boxing. Ok so that was a **** fight for the most part but who could say what might have happened in the final couple of rounds? Rivera wasn't exactly out on his feet. So many of the classic fights of the past 10 years could never have occurred had taken place in the UK. For a start, Pac-JMM 1 would have been stopped in the first round.
I don't know what it is about boxing over here. The commentators were trying to think of excuses to stop it from about the third round. Rivera wasn't getting beaten up, although you'd have thought he was the way they were going on.
It's great how there's this cult of the bomber thing around Bellew even though he fights nothing like that
Purdy's upper body is far to big, why on earth has he took up a bodybuilding course? He was slow as **** before, now he's even slower.
Yeah, I thought Giacon might sneak it from the previous fights I've seen of both. He's got a lovely jab and is fairly fluid but the thing with someone like Marsili is that they can just bully a fighter whose power is average. Giacon's record is deceiving because he's not a power puncher and Marsili is cute and relentless with his aggression so it's not the most surprising result. I remember TFFP making a thread on Giacon and I said that I think he'd make European level at tops, which I'll stick to because he has to figure out his style and refine it to take advantage of his stregths, but Marsili can challenge for a World title in the future at Lightweight no doubt. He's a little beast
